GeoTool
Before any sophisticated scheduling system can be used, customer locations need to be geocoded, a process whereby the required longitude and latitude coordinates are obtained from the customer's physical address.
Usually, the geocoding process is tedious, time-consuming work. The user typically positions each location manually at the corresponding point on the scheduling system's map interface, and repeats the process for every customer requiring a delivery!
OPSI's GeoTool provides an easy way to automatically retrieve coordinates from address information. Using advanced string parsing and matching algorithms, GeoTool extracts street, suburb, town and postal code information from the address. This address information is then matched against OPSI’s map database to obtain the required coordinates; coordinates that can boast street-level accuracy.
Once this automatic geocoding process is complete, the GeoTool results can be easily imported into FLO.
Features of GeoTool include:
- Support for spelling errors in the address data, with customisable spelling-error thresholds
- Customisable address matching thresholds, with settings ranging from 'street-suburb-town-postal code' matching to simple 'town-only' matching
- Selection of specific regions of South Africa for quicker analysis
- Real-time geocoding statistics
- Customisable export files
- Export files that are “FLO-compliant”
