OPSI Systems' Announces New Features for FLO

OPSI Systems today announced a number of new features that have been added to FLO's arsenal of features, including: turn-by-turn directions, barriers, as well as new maps for Australia and New Zealand.
Turn By Turn Directions
OPSI added street level routing with the best South African map data available last year. This year, we have exposed the richness of this data by providing turn by turn directions on the legs of all trips. Detailed instructions from point of departure to arrival are generated detailing every turn and distance travelled. With turn by turn directions, drivers now have an added resource to help them follow FLO’s optimized routes.
Barriers
An exciting new concept has been added to the road network routing: Barriers. Many areas have geographical travel restrictions that disallow some or all types of vehicles. Downtown areas, for example, can sometimes be so constrictive so as to prohibit all but the smallest vehicles.
Users can create any number of barriers with a map interface. Vehicle and time restrictions are specified on each barrier. FLO routes to respect these constraints.
Australia and New Zealand Maps
OPSI has expanded with several new customers in Australia and New Zealand, requiring new maps and road networks. This presented a challenge, particularly in Australia, whose road network size far exceeded any so far generated by OPSI. This required a conversion of the road network database to a SQL server standard. SQL server scales well to the 3.5 million edge network structure there and beyond.
