Coca-Cola Luanda, Angola

OPSI Systems began training IT and load planners from Coca Cola Bottling Luanda in December 2006. The implementation phase occurred shortly after that with the Coca Cola depot in Luanda Sul going live at the beginning of February, 2007. Another depot, “Mulemba”, near the capitol Luanda went live at the beginning of March, 2007. Both instances of FLO are run from one server located in the IT department in Vitoria. The two FLO planners from the depots connect to this server via terminal services.

Coca Cola Bottling run Syspro as their ERP system and FlowCentric as their route settlement system. Through a custom built interface that is configurable, FLO is able to interact with these systems, for example, by extracting specific orders for selected depots in appropriate statuses. Once scheduled, these orders are allocated to a specific vehicle and then uploaded back to Syspro. At this stage the correct status is set in Syspro and invoices are then printed with load numbers generated by FLO.

Due to the lack of street names on the digital maps of Luanda, the load planner would have found it difficult to geocode a new customer, so the Syspro-FLO-Interface automatically pulls through customer coordinates from Syspro. These coordinates are collected by the sales representatives using a hand held GPS unit.
